No, this is not a random picture of Alpha.
I’m madeener and I’m an anime nerd. Animation is my medium of choice when it comes to entertainment and I’ve been with it for the majority of my nineteen years. Fantasy is my world and escapism is my philosophy.
So, how did this little dark alley of a blog come about? Let’s just say that I, like a multitude of other people out there, have thoughts I wish to convey to an audience other than myself. Blogging has empowered people with such a tool and I’m not one to reject its popularity and the culture it has spawned on an international level. This blog will probably turn out to be a collection of my thoughts on visual culture and hopefully an enjoyable read to you.
(Long, boring introduction ahead!)
Before I begin anything, I have to make a declaration: I am not a good writer.
I’m often guilty of writing (unintentionally) illogical things and I also plead so to many other crimes like being presumptuous, pretentious, judgmental, lazy to make changes, etcetera.. To improve on these aspects is part of the reason why I’ve started this blog too, and with that in mind I intend to be as concise and write in as simply as I can.
Anime is a medium which has grown in popularity on a global scale since the advent of black voodoo magic on the Internet began about a decade ago. I began to practice magic in 2004, when, at the age of fourteen, discovered a magic wand which allowed me to materialise anime on a whim. My first anime, as far as I can remember, was Doreamon. I was probably four or five years of age then. The first anime I began to look forward to every afternoon after school was Gundam Wing, but what really got me serious about the whole cartoon business was probably Yoshyuki Sadamoto’s series of Evangelion manga I picked up when I was nine (and now, ten years after, it’s still stuck at volume ten). Evangelion (manga) caught my neck on a leash and had me gasping for air. I never knew comics could have porn in it! Porn! I knew I had to have more, and thus I entered my Pokemon stage (both the manga and anime had a disappointing lack of porn) and the rest is history.

Fig 1. Porn.
Fast-forward through adolescence and a teenager’s golden years and we land up here. I’m not an expert on anime and I haven’t watched nearly as much anime as a guy who wants to write about it should (in my humble opinion) but I think I can bring something different to the table to keep you, the reader, interested in this lonely blog. There are way too many blogs writing about popular anime (understandably), and so I decided it might be worth a try writing only about the unsung heroes of the anime world. These guys lurk in a dark alley watching a parade led by the primetime blockbusters. Grunting, they return to their little studio apartment where they survive on instant noodles and the occasional beef jerky and a full set of Friends DVDs to watch everyday while their cousins dine in a restaurant serving prime Australian pork ribs and Buddha Jumps Over The Wall and play Transformers on a big-ass screen with Dolby Digital Surround Sound™ features. However, if you’d simply grab and map and bother to find them, you’d realise that most of them are really pretty cool after all. These guys deserve some love; I intend to send their details to the nearest match making agency, and hopefully they’ll find a match somehow, somewhere. Of course, not all of them are as pretty as we like. Some have pot-bellies and others suffer from chronic depression, but I think they deserve the spotlight sometimes. Little do you know, you might find a match within their little niche community. ^_^
In conclusion, I hope you’ll find something you like within these four cyber walls I so grandly call my estate. Have a cuppa’ from the pot on the stove. The menu’s coming right up!

You probably write better and have much much better taste than all the popular anime bloggers out there.
Good luck with this blog, I’ll be visiting. ^_^
